I see logistics as far more than supply chains and transportation networks.
Jiss Mathew is the Co-founder and Director of Global Logistics Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., one of India's most prominent neutral LCL consolidators. The organisation, which he co-founded in 2006, has grown from a founding team of 20 to over 350 people, operating from 19 locations across India, serving more than 11,000 customers across LCL cargo consolidation, air freight, FCL forwarding, express cargo, warehousing, NVOCC, project cargo, and transportation.
Born in the south of India to a family in plantation farming, he moved through several cities for his education. An adventure sports enthusiast, he was drawn to the historical sites of India — Hampi, Ajanta, Ellora — and trekked most of the hills in the Sahyadris and several in eastern India. Those adventures widened from drinking kava with Fijian locals to safaris in Malawi and Tanzania to staying deep inside the Amazon rainforest. All of it firmed up his understanding of human relations and adaptability from the earliest stages of his career.
After completing a Master's in Management from SIBER School of Management, he began his career in logistics in 1996 with the largest multinational LCL consolidator in the world, where he spent a decade building deep operational, sales, and commercial expertise before co-founding Global Logistics Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. in 2006. He holds an Executive Programme in Management (EPM) from IIT Bombay, and currently serves as State Committee Chairman for Transport and Logistics at the Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC).
Beyond business leadership, Jiss has developed a compelling second voice as a podcast host, industry storyteller, and observer of global trade systems. Through Logistically Speaking, he unpacks the human and cultural stories embedded in supply chains, trade ecosystems, and economic infrastructure.
I see logistics as far more than supply chains and transportation networks. At its core, it is a reflection of how people, economies, and civilizations stay connected. My professional journey across global trade and logistics has gradually expanded into a broader exploration of infrastructure, business culture, economic transformation, and the systems that shape modern commerce. Through my work, travels, and conversations, I've developed a strong interest in understanding how cities function, how industries evolve, and how stories influence the way businesses and nations are perceived. Whether studying a port ecosystem, observing urban movement, or discussing emerging trade trends, I believe every system carries a deeper human and cultural narrative behind it. Beyond the professional space, I enjoy reading, travelling, observing markets and infrastructure, and reflecting on the relationship between culture, identity, and commerce.
